Egyptian Hieroglyphs were formal writing system used by Acient Egyptian to record their language from around 3200 BC until the late 4th century AD. Derived from Greek words heirs (“holy”) and glypho (writing”) they are known locally as medu netjer or “the gods words” The system contains more than 1,000 distinct characters, which beautifully blur the boundary between art and literacy.
