MONTBLANC PATRON OF ART 4810 NICOLAUS COPERNICUS FOUNTAIN PEN

£1,999.00

Montblanc Patron of Art

The Patron of Art series is the supreme discipline of Montblanc writing instruments.

In 1992 the edition started with the first edition honoring „Lorenzo de Medici". Up to and including 1994 there was only the limited edition of 4,810 pieces. In 1995 Montblanc added an additional even more limited edition with only 888 pieces as they launched the Prince Regent edition that year.

Thus, since 1995, two editions have been dedicated to each honored person. The patron of art edition is a very coveted edition among collectors around the world.

Astronomy was Nicolaus Copernicus’ only love. He followed the orbits of the heavenly bodies with his naked eye, and created the basis for today’s view of the universe – the heliocentric system. Considering all his achievements based on his teachings that still hold today – including the reform of the Prussian coin system and the calendar – Copernicus is one of the greatest cultural figures in the history of mankind.

Nicolaus Copernicus’ view of the Universe is the model for the Limited Edition created in his honour. Nine rings in 925 sterling silver encircle the anthracite-coloured lacquer barrel. The sun is symbolised by the greenish-glowing faceted meteorite stone that decorates the clip
