Montblanc's Masters of Art Homage to Gustav Klimt pays tribute to the Austrian symbolist painter whose works were often the subject of controversy during his lifetime but which now fetch some of the highest prices at auction. It celebrates his beginnings in the Vienna Secession and highlights elements from some of his most famous works.

The barrel of the pen is a dark and inviting blue lacquer, inspired by the colour used in Klimt's portrait of Emilie Flöge. The design embedded in it comes from his painting The Kiss.

The gold-plated hammered metal cap and barrel end pay tribute to Klimt's 'golden phase', which includes masterpieces such as Adele Bloch-Bauer I and the Stoclet Frieze.

His initials are imprinted in gold on the barrel and the clip has been designed with the Pallas Athene in mind: the curved lines and spirals correspond to the decoration on the forged metal frame of the artwork.

The solid gold nib is engraved with an owl, which is a reference both to Athena's companion and also the Secession building, whose facades are decorated with owl sculptures.
