A beautiful large heavy English antique solid sterling silver desk inkwell by the Silversmiths Marson & Jones - (1915 - 1937) in lovely condition and with full English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1937.

Very nice quality genuine 84 year old sterling silver example; (definitely not silver-plated), a handsome size with an inset hinged lid and with an attractive castellated border edge rim. Complete with its silver/white metal removable liner and it has a shiny black Bakelite covering on the underside of the base.

It weighs a heavy approx 408 grams, in total, (including interior weighting). There are no added personal engraved presentation inscriptions or estate crests. Great item.

Measures approx 3.75 inches (93mm) in diameter and stands 2.5 inches (63mm) in height.

Date: English antique solid sterling silver with a full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1937, (date letter "n"). Matching marks on the body, on the border edge rim and also on the lid. Some hallmarks a little rubbed but are all readable. The silversmiths initials are "M & J", (Marson & Jones - 1915 - 1937)

Condition Lovely condition with no splits or repairs, definitely no wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, a beautiful antique silver inkwell. The silver hinged lid works perfectly, opening and closing securely and the interior removable white metal liner is the perfect fit. Handsome large sizeand nice and heavy and with no added personal engravings. From a private estate and fresh to the market.
